Driving Abroad

• A U.S. driver's license is not recognized in many countries. Most countries accept an international driving permit. Obtain your permit through Automobile Association of America (AAA) or the National Automobile Club.

• Many U.S. car insurance policies do not provide full coverage abroad. Consider purchasing the rental car company's insurance.

• Be aware that traffic laws vary from country to country.

• Bring street maps.

• Bring a child safety seat if you need one.
